The KOPF2 is a compact, high-precision three-way geared head that allows for independent adjustment of all three axes.
Designed for demanding photographic disciplines - such as architectural, studio, macro, reproduction, and astrophotography - this innovative head enables independent adjustments across both axes (in its base configuration). With its capacity for precise upward and downward tilting, as well as lateral (side-to-side) tilting, the KOPF2 offers unparalleled flexibility. Coarse movements along the transverse and longitudinal axes (tilting and lateral tipping) are easily controlled via side-mounted locking levers, while finer adjustments can be made using the adjustment screw.
The self-locking fine-adjustment mechanism prevents heavy camera setups from slipping or dropping unexpectedly when the side locking lever for coarse adjustment is disengaged. By increasing the diameter of the fine-adjustment screw - using the optionally available CAST-FINE-K fine-adjustment handle - it is possible to execute extremely small, precise angular movements.
The joints for the longitudinal and transverse axes are equipped with adjustable, resettable angle scales, ensuring that specific angular positions can be reproduced. Using the integrated spirit levels, these angles can be precisely calibrated to 0°, allowing for accurate return to specific settings or the establishment of defined angular intervals.
The mounting brackets at the top and bottom are equipped with an ARCA-UniQ/C-compatible dovetail profile, a 3/8” threaded hole (with a 1/4” adapter), a 1/4” mounting screw, as well as holes for video pins - which ensure secure, anti-twist mounting - and recesses for safety pins. Furthermore, the ARCA-UniQ/C-compatible dovetail profile allows the tilt head to be inserted directly into a corresponding quick-release clamp or a panoramic rotating base with an integrated clamp.
In the base version offered here, the KOPF² comes equipped with a Q=MOUNT quick-release coupling pre-installed on the upper arm, and a PANORAMA=II panoramic base mounted on the lower arm. The Q=MOUNT coupling allows for extremely fast clamping of quick-release plates via a double-start thread - there is no need for extensive screwing; a small fraction of a turn is sufficient.
A safety pin, used in conjunction with NOVOFLEX Q=PLATE series quick-release plates, prevents the plates from sliding out in either direction.
The PANORAMA=II panoramic base features a 360° scale with 5° increments. An easy-grip locking knob allows the mounted geared head to be fixed precisely in any desired position. Additionally, it incorporates a ball bearing, which ensures smooth, play-free movement. The underside features a 3/8" thread, complete with an adapter insert for 1/4" compatibility.
